Poster: Claude Monet – Cap Martin – Menton – 1884

This painting belongs to a group of paintings that Monet painted on the French Riviera in April 1884. We are standing on the eastern side of the cape, looking across the bay towards the Maritime Alps. Monet returned to the Mediterranean coast, which he had visited with Renoir the previous December, because of the intensity of the light. To suggest the airy expanse of the sky, he left much of the upper part of the picture blank and indicated the contours of the clouds and mountains with a few sketchy strokes.

Printed on high-quality paper. The picture will of course have a white border for framing.
